The original Balinese writing system (Aksara Bali) originates from Javanese with slightly different shape and adjustment. Most Balinese scripture are printed in this wiring system and easily accessible to most people.
At APBIPA Bali the learning of Balinese is designed to suit the needs of the students either for communication (spoken and written), academic as well as literary appreciation. These include the study of various Balinese ancient literature. So, do not wait to register in one of our courses by filling in the registration form because we have limited seats available. The maximum number of students per class is 6.
ENROLLMENT To join a course you have to fill in a registration and sit for a short interview and placement test, unless you are a complete beginner. The cost for interview and placement test is Rp.50,000.
TEACHERS Our teaching staff members are qualified and experienced Balinese language teachers who have full understanding of the language and culture and the needs of their students.
LEVEL
There are four levels currently available.
They are:
- • Beginner (Level 1)
- • Elementary (Level 2)
- • Pre-Intermediate (Level 3)
- • Intermediate (Level 4)
PROGRAMS
Current programs available include:
- 1. Specialised programs
- • Metembang– traditional art of singing with sekar alit rhythm.
- • Mewirama –traditional singing with sekar agung rhythm.
- • Mebebasan – traditional art of translating and interpreting
- • Traditional Balinese cooking
- • Canang making - a simple Balinese offering
TIMETABLE
Our typical timetable for the course, Mon/Wed/Fri or Tue/Thu/Fri, morning and afternoon.

FEE
The hourly rate is US$25 per group hour with a maximum of six students per class for a minimum of ten hours. To finish one level, students are required complete 40 hours of studies.
