This course trains participants in order to be able to:
- develop skills required to perform a professional interpreting work.
- boost listening skills and memory span.
- apply dos and don’ts in interpreting
- enable participants to interpret (from English into Indonesian) in accordance with participants’ field of profession.
- acquire tools for a better understanding of both spoken (and written) English which is a determinant factor for the ability to interpret.
Interpreting English [For Indonesian] Outcome

Throughout the course participants will learn various approaches and skills in order to unpack the semantic properties of a spoken discourse within a very short period of time and immediately transform them into the target language. Participants will also learn to perform textual analysis, identify main idea and factual details in the source texts before moving into the actual work of interpreting. More importantly, participants will be able to produce meaningfully accurate and naturally interpretation in the target language.The training material can be classified into the following categories.
• Unpacking the semantic properties of spoken texts
• Identifying areas of problems (linguistic, non-linguistic, and contents areas).
• Selection of approximate equivalence available in the target language
• Current theories in translation & interpreting
• Interpreting practice
Interpreting English [For Indonesian] Participant
This training course is recommended for those wishing to enter translation profession and for those who are extensively involved in various meetings with foreigners.Interpreting English [For Indonesian] Instructor
The training program is the product of APBIPA Bali is delivered by two core instructor who have been heavily involved in the development of BIPA program at the national level.Riasa has been involved in translation and interpreting projects. His works include the translation of a World Bank report on RICA Project, BNN-AusAID projects on drug prevention. Nyoman Riasa was also involved in a joint project between TSA (Transportation Security Association) of the US Government and the Indonesian Department of Communication for Ngurah Rai airport security. He has worked on a number of AusAID Projects funded by the Australian Government including Health Service Management, HIV and Drug Information
